On a late flight LAX back to ATX, I had this naming + logo + website project for a new takeout food venture aimed at the healthy livin’ crowd on my mind. At refreshment hour I jotted a few name options on a cocktail napkin, scribbled some logo ideas and stuffed all into my pocket. Because you know, who knows? Snap pea…in a snap…oh snap...all that. 10+ years later, Snap Kitchen is going strong with over 500 stores in the US, UK and Canada helping people live healthier, tastier lives.

A new Euro-inspired cafe & espresso bar was being built to enhance the on-site experience of an established Houston landscape firm with its own retail nursery and shop. The name originated from an insider story at the firm, but a logo and identity system was needed. For the project I created the personality of French chef, Tiny Boxwood, to match the vibe of the cafe – bistro-casual, sophisticated, welcoming, memorable. The great-looking venue was a runaway success and continues to be, now with two Houston locations and one in Austin.

Cut to Tiffany & Leo wanting to start a wine business after falling in love with Zach’s killer art that screamed to become a label. When you can add just one letter to a surname and make a G give itself entirely over to pleasure the stars have aligned. Santé.

A venerable producer of Italian wines needed a name and logo for a new bottling of Pinot Grigio from the Alto Adige province in northeastern Italy (or South Tyrol depending on your outlook). For this crisp, well-crafted white from estate vineyards at high altitude, I created the name Altanuta, cloud motif and original label for the brand. Label and cloud bottle art have since evolved into the elegant bottling above △
E sorpresa: unlike the green Chardonnay grape, Pinot Grigio is actually a blue/gray varietal (grigio=gris=gray) grown in Europe since at least the 1300s
